Fifa, US Soccer begin NWSL probes as Baird is forced out

The National Women's Soccer League is facing the gravest crisis of its existence after Lisa Baird was forced to step down as commissioner and both Fifa and the United States Soccer Federation initiated separate investigations after multiple players detailed allegations of sexual harassment and abuse.

An unprecedented moment of player power within the league on October 1 began with all the NWSL weekend's games being called off at the players' request and ended with both Baird and general counsel Lisa Levine removed from their leadership positions.
