World football’s governing body Fifa has responded to criticism concerning its revised code of ethics stating that the changes made will guarantee greater opportunities for transparency and understanding of the respective proceedings.
Fifa has moved to state its case following a report from the Associated Press news agency yesterday (Tuesday) detailing the reforms, which had not been made public by Fifa. The AP reported that the remodelled code of ethics removes “corruption” as an official offence and introduces defamation as a new means of sanctioning.
