Chinese mineral water brand Ganten and Fiba, the global governing body of basketball, have agreed a four-year global partnership running from 2019 to 2023.
The deal is an extension and expansion of a previous deal covering the 2018 women’s World Cup and 2019 men’s World Cup in 2019.
Ganten will have principal commercial rights and exclusivity in the water category across all Fiba competitions during the four-year cycle leading up to the next men’s World Cup, in 2023. This includes the men’s and women’s Olympic qualifying tournaments, Fiba Contential Cups for both men and women, Fiba Youth World Cups and the Fiba Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2022.
Fiba secretary-general Andreas Zagklis said: “We are pleased to have Ganten as a Global Partner and have them on board for a further four years. Their involvement in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 was very positive, with China-wide integrated marketing and media campaigns occurring throughout the year.”
Mengjia Chen, vice-president at Ganten, said: “The cooperation between Ganten and FIBA is a strategic success from the point of view of brand and development for both parties. FIBA has events all around the world and this partnership not only will continue to raise the reputation of both organizations, but also continue to popularize the sport internationally.”
