Fiba against moving Paris 2024 basketball to Lille

The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has rejected a proposal to stage some basketball matches during the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium in Lille as organisers search for a new venue.

Fiba secretary general Andreas Zagklis cited “serious concerns” about holding matches at the multi-purpose stadium, which is situated about 225 kilometres to the north of Paris, while speaking at the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) general assembly in Lausanne yesterday (Wednesday).
