Italian automotive manufacturer Fiat has stepped up its association with Argentinian Superliga football team Racing Club by agreeing a short-term deal to become its main sponsor.

The agreement commenced with Racing’s 2-1 Superliga win at Gimnasia on Sunday, and Fiat’s logo will continue to be emblazoned across the front of the team’s shirt through to the end of October.

Fiat struck a strategic partnership with Racing at the beginning of the year and the shirt sponsorship is designed to commemorate the centenary of the company’s presence in Argentina.

Martín Zuppi, director general of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Argentina, said: “It is a very special year for our Fiat brand in the country, commemorating our first 100 years in Argentina, and what better way to celebrate it than accompanying the sport that reflects the passion of the Argentines.”
