Formula 1 has confirmed today (Wednesday) that its 2022 calendar will feature 22 races after the motorsport series opted not to replace the cancelled Russian Grand Prix.

F1 announced in February that it had cancelled this year’s Russian Grand Prix in Sochi following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The race contract with grand prix promoter Rosgonki was later terminated completely, meaning that Saint Petersburg will not host an event as planned next year.
