The European Open golf tournament will return to the European Tour schedule in 2015 to end a six-year absence for the event.
The €2m ($2.56m) event will take place at the Hartl Resort in Bad Griesbach, Germany from September 24-27 and will be promoted by the 4Sports & Entertainment agency.
Last staged at the London Golf Club in 2009, the 2015 edition will mark the first time the European Open has been played in continental Europe.
It joins the BMW International Open as the European Tour’s second scheduled tournament in Germany next year.
Keith Waters, chief operating officer of the European Tour, said: “We are naturally thrilled to be able to announce the return of the European Open to our international schedule. Germany is a vital market for the European Tour and to be hosting a second tournament alongside one of our most established events in the BMW International Open brings a great deal of satisfaction.”
