ESPN to offer inaugural monetized sports Twitter Space as fundraiser for V Foundation

ESPN will become the first sports organization to monetize a Twitter Space on December 2 when listeners will pay a $0.99 entry donation to benefit The V Foundation for cancer research.

The live audio feature will include notable ESPN personalities such as Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg, and Mike Greenberg.

It will be the first monetized Space in the sports realm and the first ticketed Space to serve as a fundraiser.

Ticketed Spaces are still in a testing phase and only available in the United States to a small group of hosts on iOS and Android.

The move comes with various sports organizations looking to leverage the Twitter Spaces feature as highlighted by a recent partnership extension between Twitter and the National Basketball Association.

Additionally during V Week, ESPN will be amplifying the campaign hashtag #VStrongBaby as a rallying message across all platforms, in recognition of veteran college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale who is fighting a cancer battle of his own, and recently and emotionally returned to announcing.
