The broadcaster will also carry action from the Liga Total Cup, which will feature top German teams Borussia Dortmund, Mainz, Bayern Munich and Hamburg. These new pre-season friendly matches are an addition to the ESPN Summer Tour, which will include coverage of the Copa America national team tournament in Argentina and the Emirates Cup, held at the home of Barclays Premier League club Arsenal.
ESPN will air all games from Arsenal and Liverpool’s tours of Asia, starting on July 13, as well as Arsenal’s games in Europe against Cologne in Germany and Benfica in Portugal and additionally Liverpool’s trip to Valerenga in Norway and a home clash with Valencia. Everton’s summer games in the United States are also set to be broadcast and Tottenham Hotspur’s tour of South Africa is exclusive to ESPN.
“We’re delighted to add these games to our summer schedule and bring fans even more great live football. In addition to our live and exclusive coverage of the summer’s premier football action in the Copa America, ESPN viewers will not miss any of the all important pre-season football action,” said Jeroen Oerlemans, ESPN’s vice-president of TV channels for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
