Under the terms of the agreement with UEFA partner TEAM Marketing AG, pay-TV channel Nova – which has also secured rights to the 2012-15 Europa League – will share live coverage of the Champions League final with ERT. European football’s governing body announced that ERT had renewed its rights deal to broadcast the first choice Champions League match each Wednesday as well as highlights of each match week on NET.
Nova has acquired the remaining Champions League matches and will broadcast six fixtures each match night, including the first choice Tuesday match on the Novasports-branded network of channels. In addition, Nova was awarded the live rights for all Europa League matches except the first pick of the match week. Nova will show up to five live games for each kick-off slot and will also air highlights programmes each match night.
The rights have been awarded on a platform-neutral basis, allowing coverage to be carried via mobile and online, and the deals have pushed out free-to-air Mega Channel, which currently broadcasts one Champions League match on Tuesday nights. “UEFA would like to thank valued rights holder Mega Channel for its continued commitment to the UEFA Champions League,” read a statement from UEFA. “Further announcements regarding the sale of the remaining 2012-15 UEFA Europa League media rights will be made shortly.”
