England sorry and Triesman resigns over World Cup ‘bribes’

The English Football Association has sent “heartfelt apologies” to the Spanish and Russian football federations and chairman David Triesman has quit after he was reported as saying Spain could drop its bid to host the 2018 World Cup if Russia helped bribe referees at next month’s event in South Africa.
