Elevate partners up with industry heavyweights

Elevate Sports Ventures has today (Monday) signed up Oak View Group (OVG), Live Nation and Ticketmaster as partners in its drive to seek out fresh revenue opportunities in the global stadium and ticketing market.

Elevate was formed in January as part of a collaboration between NFL American football franchise the San Francisco 49ers and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE), which includes in its portfolio NBA basketball franchise the Philadelphia 76ers, NHL ice hockey team the New Jersey Devils and its Prudential Center home arena (pictured).

OVG is a leader in the arena development and investment space, currently managing some of the industry’s largest and most dynamic arena projects. Live Nation and Ticketmaster will add expertise in the live entertainment and ticketing sectors.

Elevate will serve as OVG’s preferred premium sales and service agent, supporting all current and future OVG development projects. On behalf of OVG, Elevate will support the premium seating and suite sales and servicing strategy associated with the proposed renovations to the new arena development at Seattle Center. The project is tied to the city’s interest in serving as a destination for a potential NHL expansion team.

Al Guido, Elevate chief executive and 49ers president, and Scott O’Neil, HBSE chief executive and Elevate co-managing partner, will serve on Elevate’s board of advisors. They will work alongside newly appointed co-managing partners Tim Leiweke, founder and chief executive of OVG, and Jared Smith, executive vice-president of Live Nation and president of Ticketmaster.

Guido said: “What I like is the synergy between our partners – that is the differentiator to me. Live Nation/Ticketmaster obviously owns and operates their own venues, they operate the world’s largest ticketing platform. When we bring our full list of services to a client – whether it is an existing OVG client or a stand-alone deal on which we are bidding via RFP, we truly feel that we bring unique offerings to the table.

“We are an organisation that strives to stay atop of the most up-to-date trends in the industry, and the logo on our business cards, and contacts in our rolodex ensures that we have access to experts in our space around the globe; just a few weeks ago I spent a week in Spain, meeting with a number of executives at LaLiga.

“We have clients in every professional sports league in the country, we have clients in collegiate sports, we have clients in esports – our pipeline is extraordinary, we have good bandwidth, and we are hiring to support and service our incoming clients. We are working on a number of different projects that are not just tied to sports teams.”

O’Neil added: “Tim Leiweke, Michael Rupino, Al Guido, Jared Smith – these are executives who have both shaped and laid the foundation for the industry as we know it today, and are driving the change and exploration required to make it bigger and smarter.

“Industry insiders should have no doubt that, based on the leadership we’ve assembled and the size and scope of the projects we are identifying, that we have big ambitions for this company and its future.”
