Spanish department store chain El Corte Inglés has begun selling tickets for LaLiga football matches through a system that allows fans to simulate how they will see the match before purchasing.
So far, top-tier club Getafe and second division teams Albacete, Elche and Gimnàstic have joined the initiative. El Corte Inglés said that other clubs would join in the coming months but it remains to be seen whether the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid will form part of the initiative.
It marks the first time that the chain has facilitated the purchase of football tickets and fans will be able to buy them in-store, over the phone and online. More than 600 stores will offer tickets.
The system offers fans a 3D visualisation of their view from the stands before purchasing their ticket. El Corte Inglés has partnered with BeTIX Sports de Expertus Tchnology on the initiative.
Fans will also be able to manage their season tickets, with El Corte Inglés to facilitate the renewal of tickets or a seat change.
El Corte Inglés has an existing sponsorship deal in place with LaLiga, which operates the top two divisions of Spanish football. Its new three-year deal began in 2018 and grants El Corte Inglés the right to exclusively sell official LaLiga products at its stores.
