Irish telecoms operator Eir has said it will not be taking part in the latest rounds of sports rights auctions as it reconsiders its business model amid ongoing difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Eir’s sports rights portfolio includes the Pro14 rugby competition, Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) events and football's English FA Cup, but the decision to step back from bidding casts doubt over the future of the service.
