Berlin has retained its hosting rights to the EHF Cup Finals after the European Handball Federation confirmed the men’s club showpiece will return to the German capital this year.
Following a successful event in 2014, German Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin will once again play host to the two-day competition on May 16-17.
The EHF Cup Finals feature the four top teams in the Men’s EHF Cup, competing over two days for the title with semi-finals played on Saturday and final matches on Sunday.
Michael Wiederer, EHF secretary general, said: “Handball is not only about sporting performance, but also major events such as the EHF Cup Finals. We’re pleased to see this event return to Berlin and the opportunity that this offers us to once again showcase top class handball in the German capital.”
The Men’s EHF Cup Group Phase throws off on February 11 and features 16 teams, playing in four groups for a place in the quarter-finals and ultimately for a place in the EHF Cup Finals. Hungarian club Pick Szeged is the reigning champion.
