Ecclestone signals venue changes

Speaking to the ITV-F1 programme, Ecclestone said: “Next year will be the same, but the year after we will lose two or three and gain two or three.”

A number of countries have shown interest in hosting a Formula One Grand Prix, including Russia, China, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon and Bahrain.

Ecclestone has already promised Russia a place if they can come up with the facilities and guarantee revenues – and Ecclestone hinted that China would also be a strong contender. “We may be going to that place where there’s a lot of people and they eat nice Chinese food,” he said.

Circuits that could lose out in any reshuffle would be Hungary, Brazil, Belgium and San Marino.
