Thomas Weikert, one of the candidates in the running to become the next president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), has said that he believes the country should make a bid to host the Olympic Games again “as soon as possible”.

Speaking to German public broadcaster ARD, Weikert said that Germany should look to put together a bid to host the next available Olympics and Paralympics, which is in 2036 – a century after the controversial 1936 Berlin Games, held and organised by the Nazi regime.
