Disney has said the postponement and possible cancellation of the Indian Premier League will negatively impact the revenue of its Indian subcontinental streaming business Hotstar.
In a second-quarter earnings call last week, Christine McCarthy, chief financial officer at Disney, said Hotstar's revenues were already “down significantly” versus Q1, and that further falls in advertising revenues and net subscribers are expected in the second half of the year after the league was suspended on May 4.
