DFL’s Hopfen eyes return to international rights growth, confirms investment talks

German Football League (DFL) chief executive Donata Hopfen has called on the organisation to be “more ambitious” with its commercial targets and extract more value from its international media rights.

Hopfen, speaking this week at Spobis in Düsseldorf, also confirmed reports the DFL is holding discussions with clubs and external advisors about private equity investment in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.
