Germany’s premier ice hockey league, the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) has signed up online gambling platform Mybet to its sponsorship portfolio.

The deal, which was brokered by Sweden-based sports marketing agency Commercial Sports Media (CSM), will run throughout the remainder of the 2019-20 German ice hockey season.

The central activation of the agreement will occur digitally, with the brand granted exposure across DEL platforms and both organisation’s will promote the league via their websites and social media pages.

Gernot Tripcke, managing director of the DEL, said: ”Our ice hockey fans will have the opportunity to place bets on their favourite teams. At the same time, various campaigns expand the attention radius of sports enthusiasts for ice hockey in Germany.”

The agreement supports Mybet’s progress after it relaunched its online gambling services in Germany in 2019.

It joins ten others in DEL’s sponsorship portfolio, which is headlined by German chemicals firm Covestro. However, the company will end its association with the league when its main sponsor agreement expires at the end of the 2019-20 season.

The season began on September 13, 2019 and will conclude on April 30 with the final of the play-offs.
