Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers has added bitcoin lottery Crypto Millions Lotto to its sponsorship portfolio.
The agreement breaks some new ground in English football, being the first to involve an online lottery business.
It is a further move into the world of cryptocurrency for Wolves, which also claimed a first by signing the first-ever sports sponsorship deal involving a cryptocurrency exchange platform when it added CoinDeal as its sleeve sponsor in 2018. In July 2019, this was extended to cover the 2019-20 football season.
Crypto Millions Lotto chief executive Sulim Malook, said: ‘’As a company, we are big football fans, and Wolves is the most crypto-friendly club in England. They were an obvious choice.”
Wolves head of commercial, Steve Morton, outlined some of the key markets Wolves are targeting through the tie-up. He said: “We’re excited to develop our relationship, which will also see the Wolves brand reach new audiences in Eastern Europe and South America.”
Fellow Premier League team Watford has also taken steps into the world of Bitcoin, displaying the currency’s logo on its shirt sleeve as part of a Bitcoin campaign by main shirt sponsor Sportsbet.io.
