South African food brand Crown National has signed as associate sponsor of two Western Province rugby union teams – the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province.

Under the two-year deal, Crown National’s ‘Six Gun Grill’ seasoning brand will feature on the shoulders of the Stormers and Western Province jerseys from 2020.

John Morris, managing director of the Crown Food Group, said that the association with the rugby clubs made sense for a number of reasons.

He said: “As strong as the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province are in rugby terms, we believe Crown National and its Six Gun Grill brand is as big a player in the food industry in South Africa…

“…Crown National employs over 1,000 staff members most of whom are loyal DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province supporters.”

Crown National joins logistics company DHL, kit supplier BLK, insurance provider Brightrock and skills development company LFP in the upper tier of Western Province Rugby’s sponsorship portfolio.

The teams’ title sponsor, DHL, renewed its multi-million-rand contract with Western Province Rugby for four years in 2017. The terms of the sponsorship includes naming rights to the home stadium of Western Province Rugby, DHL Newlands.
