The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced that its 2021 Track World Championships will no longer take place in Ashgabat due to Covid-19 concerns, with Glasgow seemingly in the box seat to become the replacement host.
The 2021 Track Worlds were due to be held in the capital of Turkmenistan from October 13-17, but the UCI said the event has been cancelled in its initial format, at the request of the organisers, as the health constraints and restrictions linked to the pandemic “make it impossible to stage the event in the country”.
