French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has welcomed a ruling from the Paris Court of Appeal which confirms that it is under no obligation to reinstate its carriage of free-to-air channels operated by commercial broadcaster TF1.

On September 22, the Paris Commercial Court ruled against TF1 in the carriage dispute with Canal Plus. TF1 had moved to the courts seeking a ruling that would restore the signal of its channels on TNT Sat, a service operated by Canal Plus which allows nearly two million households living in remote areas, specifically mountainous regions, to access television via satellite.
