Countries call on international federations to maintain Russia hosting ban

Sports ministers from 37 countries have signed an open letter calling on international federations to prohibit Russia and Belarus from hosting major sporting events following the invasion of Ukraine.

The letter – signed by officials from countries including Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, the UK and the US – also calls on federations to prevent the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes “until the fundamental principles of international law has become possible again”.
