Brazilian sports club Corinthians Paulista has signed up sports betting company Galera Group to its sponsorship portfolio.
The deal includes the rights to the sleeve sponsorship of Corinthians’ men’s football team, which participates in the Brazilian Serie A.
As indicated in the club’s press release, the deal is worth R$8m (€1.3m/$1.5m) per season over a five-year contract.
The company, which owns the Galera.Bet website will host and manage a new customised, exclusive betting platform for the club and will operate this from its offices in Israel and Cyprus.
The two organisations are allowing the club’s fans to vote on the name of the platform and the logo that will be displayed on the sleeve of the team’s shirt.
Andrés Sanchez, president of Corinthians, explained: “The crowd is very important for the club. Therefore, we want to offer more and more options for fun and engagement. We will call upon our nation to participate in the decision on the name of the platform. We want to democratise this moment with our fans.”
Corinthians fans will be able to choose between the options of Coringao.bet, Alvinegro.bet and Fiel.Bet when naming the platform.
The company joins the club’s shirt sponsorship portfolio which is headlined by the BMG bank, its front-of-shirt sponsor. This contract began in January 2019 and is due to run until 2021.
