German tyre manufacturer Continental has renewed its title sponsorship of the Copa do Brasil club football competition.
The new deal covers the 2020 edition of the tournament, which gets underway on February 5 and runs until September 16. Continental has sponsored the tournament since 2015 and took on naming rights in 2016.
As part of the deal, the competition will continue to be officially known as the Copa Continental do Brasil.
This year’s Copa do Brasil will feature 91 clubs, with the winning team to pocket R$54m (€11.7m/$12.9m). Athletico Paranaense is the defending champion.
Renato Sarzano, vice-president of Continental Pneus Mercosul, said: “Several factors were fundamental to the renewal decision, such as the return of brand exposure and the (appeal) of the competition, which opens the opportunity to connect with an extremely heterogeneous target through the great passion of Brazilians: football.”
