Conmebol sign up Ford to complete 2019-22 sponsorship cycle for Copa Libertadores

The South American Football Federation (Conmebol) has added automotive manufacturer Ford as a sponsor of premier club tournament, the Copa Libertadores.

The company will be afforded an extensive suite of rights as part of the global deal. This includes exposure at every game throughout the tournament via in-stadium branding. In addition, it will be granted Conmebol broadcast and digital rights.

Natan Vieira, vice-president of marketing, sales and services for Ford in South America, said: “Ford sponsored Rock in Rio in 2019 and being from this year in the CONMEBOL Libertadores is another great action to show the renewal of the brand in Brazil and throughout South America.”

Beer brand Amstel, gambling company Betfair, energy drink Gatorade, Airline Qatar Airways, global bank Santander, game developer EA Sports, and tyre manufacturing firm Bridgestone and global repayments specialists Mastercard form the rest of the tournament’s sponsorship portfolio.

Recently, Conmebol also extended Mastercard’s association with its premier international competition, Copa América until 2024.

The 2020 Copa Libertadores began on 28 January, its final will be played at the Maracana stadium in Rio De Janeiro on 21 November.
