Conmebol boosts prize money payments as new rights cycle starts

The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) has detailed plans for a 23-per-cent increase in payments to clubs across its competitions for the 2023 season.

Conmebol has said it will distribute around $301m (€280.4m) this year, an increase of more than $57m compared to 2022. Its showpiece tournament, the Copa Libertadores, will see up to $207.8m distributed, $37.8m up on 2022. Up to $77.8m will be issued to clubs competing in the Copa Sudamericana, a rise of $17.84m.
