China Digital enlists celebrity backing for new Asian eSports enterprise

Investment holding company China Digital Culture has struck an agreement with Taiwanese singer and actor Jay Chou to form a new eSports company in Asia.

Singapore news agency CNA said China Digital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chou (pictured) that permits the company to use his name and image to promote the company for six years in a deal that will run until 2022.

CNA said Chou would receive 10 million shares in China Digital, the equivalent of a 0.25 per cent stake in the firm.

Chou is a keen gamer and last year lent his support to the League of Legends website. The 37-year-old is famous across Asia.
