Chievo Verona will retain its place in Serie A, the top division of Italian club football, after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) opted not to proceed with a case concerning alleged financial irregularities.
FIGC prosecutors had requested that Chievo be docked 15 points for the 2017-18 season, which would have seen the Verona club relegated from Serie A. The case is connected to allegations that it deliberately inflated transfer fees in dealings with Serie B club Cesena, which had already been deducted 15 points for the forthcoming season but has now gone bankrupt.
