Chennai replaces Moscow as Chess Olympiad host following Russian sanctions

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has unveiled the Indian city of Chennai as the host of this year’s Chess Olympiad in a move that comes just two weeks after stripping Moscow of the biennial teams tournament.

In a statement, the federation said it had approved a bid presented by the All India Chess Federation and the Tamil Nadu state government to host the tournament at the Four Points convention centre in Chennai.
