Cameroon stripped as host of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Cameroon has been stripped of the right to host next year’s Africa Cup of Nations after serious delays with its preparations.

The Confederation of African Football made the decision on Friday after a meeting of its executive committee.

A new bidding process will be opened and countries have until the end of December to submit applications to host the event – which has been increased from 16 to 24 teams – next June.

Morocco and South Africa are considered early favourites.
