The Confederation of African Football has become the first continental governing body to officially back Fifa’s controversial proposal to switch the men’s and women’s World Cups to a biennial hosting model, while member associations have also supported the formation of a ‘Pan-African Super League’.

CAF held its extraordinary general assembly in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday, with a number of items on the agenda. On the Fifa International Match Calendar for men and women, the member associations unanimously voted in support of the proposal for biennial World Cups.
