Boxing’s Women’s World Championships switches from Canada to Korea

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has appointed the Korean city of Jeju as the new host of the 2014 Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Jeju City, the largest city on the island of Jeju, steps in to replace Canada as the host of the event. Boxing Canada was awarded the 2014 Championships in July 2012 but withdrew from its hosting obligations after failing to secure a suitable venue for the event.

The 2014 Championships will now be staged from November 13-25, coinciding with Jeju City’s hosting of the AIBA Congress.

This year’s competition will be the eighth edition of the Women’s Championships with the Chinese city of Qinhuangdao having staged the most recent event in 2012.
