Narinder Batra has been removed as president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) after the Delhi High Court voided his life membership of Hockey India, the country’s national hockey federation, and accused him of showing “brazen impertinence to the clear mandate of law” by attempting to circumvent anti-corruption rules.
The court ruled that Batra's life membership of the federation is incompatible with the National Sports Code, which places restrictions on the age and tenure of office bearers, and abolished the post with immediate effect.
