Barstool Sports forms esports team

Barstool Sports, the often-controversial sports and culture media company, has formed an esports team called Barstool HooliganZ.

Barstool HooliganZ has entered a team into Call of Duty using a roster of Barstool personalities and producers. Barstool could add teams in League of Legends, Valorant, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive depending on the talent they acquire.

Barstool has previously ventured into esports via its Barstool Gametime vertical, which has enjoyed streaming success on Twitch.

The move represents a further diversification of Barstool’s content offerings, having recently moved into gambling and sports betting.

In January, casino operator Penn National Gaming Inc. acquired an equity stake in Barstool Sports, gaining a minority share with a pathway to majority control. Among the plans following the transaction are Barstool Sports-branded casinos.
