Fifa has announced that Australia’s opening match of the 2023 Women’s World Cup has been switched from Sydney Football Stadium to Stadium Australia in an effort to accommodate demand for tickets.

The two Sydney venues are due to host games at this year’s edition of the national team tournament but the larger Stadium Australia, known as Accor Stadium for sponsorship purposes, was originally scheduled for knockout stage matches only.
