The Australian Open tennis Grand Slam in Melbourne this month will be open to up to 30,000 fans per day, representing around 50 per cent of its normal crowd, Victoria state sports minister Martin Pakula has confirmed.
The plan means the Melbourne Park venue will see some of the biggest crowds for a sporting event anywhere in the world since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
