Australian Open hails economic impact and audience numbers reported by Nielsen

The Australian Open tennis grand slam generated more than A$405m ($287m/€278m) in economic activity in the state of Victoria during the pandemic-afflicted years of 2021 and 2022, according to a report by data company Nielsen Sports.

The report also said 1,650 'full time equivalent' jobs were created by the event, more than 270,000 'bed nights' were booked in Victorian hotels, and more than 500,000 fans attended the grand slam over the past two years.
