Football Australia chief executive James Johnson says the federation will “explore” the possibility of bidding for hosting rights to the Fifa World Cup as the country gears up to co-host the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Johnson told Reuters news agency that Australia could table a joint bid with New Zealand, which will host 29 matches at the Women’s World Cup next year, or form an alliance with countries from Southeast Asia.
