Major League Soccer expansion team Austin FC has named premium outdoor brand Yeti as its inaugural jersey sponsor in a multi-year deal.
The Austin-based Yeti, which makes coolers, drinkware, and outdoor equipment, will also become a founding partner of the team and align with Austin FC’s eMLS team through various activations.
Yeti will also debut a series of Austin FC-branded outdoor lifestyle products at retail locations in 2020, while Yeti products will also be integrated throughout Austin FC’s 20,500-seat stadium, which is due to open in 2021 when the team joins MLS.
The company also receives designation as Austin FC’s official and exclusive outdoor partner, drinkware partner, and cooler partner. The agreement will also feature Yeti as a presenting sponsor of Austin FC’s sustainability efforts. Terms were not disclosed.
“One of the most important responsibilities the commercial side of our club holds is to consistently be a top performing MLS club in core off-field categories in an effort to put Austin FC in the best possible position to consistently be a top performing MLS club on the field,” Austin FC president Andy Loughnane told the Austin American-Statesman. “Our ambition to build Austin into a top MLS market continues to strengthen and our confidence in the market continues to be reinforced.”
Austin FC recently unveiled plans for a $45m training center in Northeast Austin, which will house the first team and academy teams.
In May 2019, Austin FC announced that Austin-based healthcare provider St. David’s HealthCare had become the MLS team’s first sponsorship partner, which would include branding on the club’s training facility and practice jerseys.
Hollywood actor and Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey is a minority owner of the club.
