The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has announced the cancellation of four ATP Tour events in China due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the creation of six one-off tournaments to be held instead.

The ATP said it took the decision to cancel its China swing, which comprises the Chengdu Open, Zhuhai Championships, China Open and Shanghai Masters, because of “restrictions related to Covid-19”. Cases of the virus in China remain low by international standards but the country’s stringent response to the pandemic means travellers have to quarantine upon arrival and new measures can be implemented at short notice.
