Italian Serie A club Roma has signed up cyber security and data protection platform Acronis to its sponsorship portfolio.
The deal will allow the club to step up its use of data in operations both on and off the field.
Acronis will provide artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to process football data. In addition, it will provide its security and data protection services to the club.
Francesco Calvo, chief operating officer at AS Roma, said: ”The sport of football is constantly evolving, and we have entered an age where we are more dependent than ever before on data to make game-winning calls.”
The agreement extends Acronis’ presence in football where the brand also holds contracts with English Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal.
For AS Roma, it bolsters a sponsorship portfolio headlined by front-of-shirt sponsor Qatar Airways in a deal worth €14m ($15.5m) per year, as shown by SportBusiness Soccer.
The SportBusiness Soccer platform includes the values and duration of all sponsorship contracts held by clubs across the English Premier League, Spain’s LaLiga, the Italian Serie A and the German Bundesliga.
