The Asian Football Confederation executive committee will choose the replacement host for next year's Asian Cup, after the organisation's congress gave it the power to do so yesterday.

Asian Cup hosts are normally selected by the AFC congress. The change was made due to the extraordinary circumstances created by China's withdrawal as host of the tournament earlier this week. China pulled out due to the uncertainty created by its ongoing crackdown on Covid outbreaks.
