Australian Professional Leagues (APL), the organisation that manages the country’s elite football leagues, has announced plans to expand and extend the A-League Women competition over the next two years.

Central Coast Mariners will return to the league, which was formerly known as the W-League and is currently marketed as the Liberty A-League, from the start of the 2023-24 season. The club, which also fields a team in the A-League Men competition, was part of the inaugural W-League season in 2008-09 but withdrew in 2010.
