English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester City has signed a multi-year extension to its contract with tire manufacturer Nexen Tire.
The brand will continue as the sleeve sponsor of the club’s men’s team, as well as its esports team.
The new deal includes the addition of the club’s women’s team for the first time.
The brand has also been granted branding across Manchester City’s Etihad Campus, including across the Nexen Tire bridge that connects the City Football Academy to the Etihad Stadium. It also receives visibility on the team bus.
The association dates back to 2015, before Nexen took the newly-available sleeve sponsor designation ahead of the start of the 2017-17 campaign.
As detailed by SportBusiness Soccer, the previous agreement was worth around £5m (€5.5m/$6.5m) per season.
The agreement also has a community focus with Nexen supporting the development of the City Football Foundation’s community pitch in East Los Angeles, as well as being the presenting partner of one of the biggest youth football tournaments in the United States – the Nexen Man City Cup.
It follows the recent addition of New Zealand-based payment platform Laybuy to City’s sponsorship portfolio in a multi-year, regional deal focused on the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
