Neo acquires Bangladesh v West Indies

Pay-television broadcaster Neo Sports has acquired rights for the West Indies national cricket team’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh.

The rights cover the Indian subcontinent and the US, according to the Indian Television website.

The deal includes two Test matches, five One-Day Internationals and a Twenty20 international, with the first Test of the series starting on November 13.

Neo Sports will exploit the rights on the Neo Prime channel, which was rebranded as a multi-sports channel earlier this year after having been previously dedicated to cricket.

The agreement was struck with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the sport’s governing body in the country, which has not had a worldwide broadcast partner since its deal with the Nimbus Communications agency – Neo Sports’ parent company – concluded in March.

The board has said it will launch a new sales process for the worldwide rights to Bangladesh home cricket matches after being unsatisfied with the response to an earlier tender. The earlier tender was due to include the West Indies tour and run for three-and-a-half years, from November 1, 2012 to April 30, 2016.
