The Dutch bank is set to conclude its 17-year backing by curtailing its sponsorship of both its men’s and women’s professional cycling teams on December 31. Rabobank said it would continue its ties with amateur cycling as a sponsor, including the youth training and the cyclocross team. The bank said it had made its decision following the publication this month of the damning United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) report into doping activities at the US Postal team. The USADA released its report on the case against the US Postal team and Armstrong, the seven-time winner of the Tour de France, describing the affair as a “tragedy”. The explosive document included sworn testimony from 26 people, including 11 of Armstrong’s former teammates on US Postal.
