Press Release: JSPIN website now has an English webpage

Tokyo, JAPAN, November 28, 2022 – The Japan Sports Business Initiative (JSPIN) website run by the Japan Sport Agency (JSA) now has an English webpage available for foreign audiences. The English webpage introduces case studies and interviews by Japanese companies and organisations that developed their businesses overseas. The site also includes information on events such as opportunities for virtual business meetings with Japanese companies.

The JSPIN was launched to support the international development of Japan’s sports industry in 2021. It aims to serve as a platform to disseminate information on Japan’s outstanding sports industries and promote networking among sports-related companies and organizations, as one of the legacies of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Koji Murofushi, JSA Commissioner, said: “Japan was highly praised by the global community for its successful completion of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics amid difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Japan’s sports industries were also outstanding in displaying their advanced technologies, content, and services reflected in the Japanese Sprit of “Omotenashi”, the spirit of giving.

“The JSA hopes to globally develop these products and services as a legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Games. As Japan is a longevity country, there are major business opportunities for Japanese sports companies and organs with many countries now struggling with health issues.

“The JSPIN logo mark is an original piece I created by using a hammer and a scrubber instead of a calligraphy brush to paint. I wanted to express the uniqueness of Japan’s sports industry, and my support for them in developing their businesses overseas.”

The JSA’s Third Sport Basic Plan stipulates the Agency aims to develop sport into a growth industry by expanding it up to 15 trillion yen by 2025.
